Know before you go- FAQs

  • Most public weekends are $5/person and $15 for a carload (pack ‘em in!)

  • Your safety is our top concern. Visitors SHALL NOT cross fences or reach over fences. We reserve the right to eject anyone who chooses not to abide by these rules. Come visit the barn to interact with the farm animals

Day visitors also must remain on trails. No exceptions.

  • Day visitors must remain on trails. No exceptions.

  • Please respect each other on our roads. Your last leg is a quarter-mile, narrow dirt road. Drive slowly. Move over. Be patient. Parking is easy and a short walk to the Big Barn.

  • Any. Simple. Any age. Really.

  • Hiking boots are highly recommended for the trails especially. Mother Nature, after all, provides thistles and briars as home and food to our furry and flying friends. Also, mud. We sometimes get that, too. Please dress accordingly.

  • Check Facebook and Instagram for up-to-the-minute weather cancellations or delays. Your safety and our crew’s safety is our first priority.

  • Two words. Be nice. That’s what Dad Erb taught us from our toddlerhood. It still sticks.

  • We’re a working farm, so public weekends are scheduled around our work. Generally, we’re open to the public on about a dozen weekends Memorial Day through November. Follow Facebook and Instagram for updates and this page here for an event listing.

  • Between public weekends, we love sharing Mother Nature’s gifts - big skies and shady woods - with children of all ages. If you have a school, church, community group, or even a big family!, give us a call. We can reserve the barn, open the Barn Store, and work out age-appropriate activities for your group.

  • We know everyone has different comfort levels in sleeping outside. That’s why we offer an Airbnb, camping and glamping. And cabins coming in 2025!

  • Unleash your inner artist in classes throughout the year. Arrange flowers, paint a masterpiece, or learn more about the natural world around us.

  • We strive to accommodate all ages and abilities, but we’re a work in progress. Call ahead, and we can make special arrangements to get to our barn, where people of all abilities can grab a snack, create and play, and watch the barnyard animals. Strollers are welcome, but our hiking trails can be uneven. Erb’n Roots will not be responsible for damage.

Also, a note: Portable toilets are not accessible. Yet. We’re working to make the land more accessible frankly. (Does anyone have a grant or donation that could help?)

  • It goes back to our parents, David and Wendy Erb. They found God and purpose on these hills for more than a half-century, and they handed down lessons of patience, kindness and - above all - the need to connect with each other. That’s our world view, and we staked it out from the get-go: We envision an ever-widening circle of people of all ages who, through our creative programming in outdoor spaces, deepen their connection to nature, and strengthen our human connections in this shared natural world.
