is located at the confluence of the Muskingum River and the Ohio River. Downtown Marietta and the surrounding area are steeped in history. This historic river town was the first settlement of the Northwest Territory and was home to many influential members of the early United States. Marietta’s rich history predates the pioneers and is best showcased by the Great Mound or Conus, located at the center of Mound Cemetery, on Fifth Street.
